Counterparty Acquisition & Contact Personalisation
We prepare the groundwork for a first approach to selected counterparties: research on each organisation, an engagement strategy and correspondence drafted for the specific recipient. All communication is sent by the client, through the client’s own channels.
Scope of work
Engagement strategy
We recommend whom to approach first, through which channel, in what order and with what proposal, taking into account the client’s capacity and the nature of each counterparty..
Personalised first-contact correspondence
We draft the first message to each recipient, based on the brief and addressed to the specific organisation and role, rather than a single template sent to all.
Counterparty briefs
For each selected organisation we prepare a concise brief: its activity, position in the market, recent developments and the points of connection with the client’s offer.
Meeting preparation
Where a counterparty agrees to a discussion, we prepare notes on its likely priorities, the questions it may raise and the points the client should establish.
Follow-up material
We prepare follow-up messages and responses to the most likely replies, so that the client can continue the exchange without delay.
Outside our scope
We do not send communications on behalf of clients, operate mailing campaigns or contact counterparties in the client’s name. The client sends all correspondence through its own channels and remains responsible for compliance with the rules governing commercial communication in the jurisdictions concerned.
What a counterparty brief contains
- Activity, size and position of the organisation
- Recent developments relevant to the approach
- The role or roles to be approached
- Points of connection with the client’s offer
- Considerations that may affect the response
- Sources and date of research
What you receive
- A brief for each counterparty
- An engagement strategy with a recommended sequence
- Personalised first-contact correspondence for each recipient
- Meeting preparation notes, where agreed
- Follow-up messages and draft responses

Related practice areas
Acquisition usually follows Counterparty Identification, which establishes the list of organisations to be approached. Before an agreement is concluded, Risk Management & Due Diligence verifies the counterparty, and the resulting contracts, non-disclosure agreements or cooperation agreements can be prepared through Law27, our document drafting practice.
Discuss the scope
If you have identified the organisations you wish to approach, or need help in doing so, describe the matter briefly. We will reply by email to arrange a discussion and propose a scope of work.
If your matter does not fall within the areas described above, describe it briefly. We will advise whether it is within our scope.
